About

Tully Bowhunters is a family-oriented club that LOVE sharing the amazing sport of archery & bowhunting with everyone!

Tully Bowhunters was established in 1977 by a keen group of young hunters that only shot traditional wooden bows. In the last 40 years the club has grown massively and now has one of the best club grounds and facilities in Queensland! The sport is amazing for kids, ladies and blokes and it teaches respect, morals, discipline, focus and bush skills. Tully Bowhunters meets every 3 weeks for a shoot (see the calendar in the pics) and also hosts one of the biggest and best shoots in Australia, The Tully Traditional…right in your hometown!

The shoots consist of shooting 3D foam targets of feral animals, nestled along a trail in the bush, to simulate hunting situations. Lots of novelty targets exist too, including ‘running’ targets and candle flame shooting! The images that follow tell a story of one of the most humble, welcoming and beautiful clubs you could ever walk into, and we’d love to meet new faces this year! Feel free to message us on this page or pop out one weekend to try it out…we have all the gear to just have a go! And if you see the President shoot…make sure you tell him that “it look good til he let the string go!”

From a club member:
“As a Tully local, I’ve been in the club for 20 years now, since I was 11, and it has had the most profound impact on my life, more than anything else. As youngsters we were taught critical bush skills, how to survive, navigate and hunt. We learned how to hunt morally, respect animals and how the ecological balance works (in Australia we are only allowed to hunt feral animals). The club is full of the friendliest, albeit rough lookin ugly blokes, amazing ladies and incredible youngsters. I’m not sure if anyone that has come here has left sad…unless they broke too many arrows!”
